The Internal Revenue Service announced that the nation's tax season will start on Monday, January 29, 2024, when the tax agency will begin accepting and processing 2021 tax year returns.
The filing deadline to submit 2021 tax returns or an extension to file and pay tax owed is Monday, April 15, 2024, for most taxpayers.
Taxpayers are required to report sales of cryptocurrencies (i.e., Bitcoin, Ethereum, etc.) on their tax return.
The IRA deduction for 2023 is $6,500 under 50 years of age and $7,500 for
those 50 and over. The RMD (required minimum distribution) age has
increased to 73 for 2024.
The standard deduction increased to $13,850 Single, $27,700 Married and
$20,800 Head of Household.
The single greatest tax “loophole” for most taxpayers who are employed is
the deferral of up to $22,500, under 50 years and $30,000 over 50 years of age of earned income through your employer retirement plan (i.e. 401k,
403b, etc.).
